Baumann
Space Frame/Washington Monument
When
Baumann Research and Development
Corporation heard that the Washington
Monument was going to be refurbished, it
immediately contacted the National Parks
Service. Over the next few months,
two designs were formulated, utilizing
the Baumann Space Frame, to provide a
scaffold structure that would adequately
conform to the rehabilitation method's
requirements. One Baumann design
incorporporated multi-color lights to
create a stained glass look. Both
designs would have allowed the Monument
to be partially viewable during the
entire project, which unfortunately was
not a feature of the design ultimately
chosen. Here are some pictures
from the designs.
